About
My entire life has been connected to culture. From my earliest days marketing bands for Interscope Records I realized that each band had its own culture that inspired the fans as much as the music. Interscope wasn’t what was relevant, it was Nine Inch Nails or No Doubt that created culture. When I started working with Nemo Design we were focused on iconic culture brands like Bell Helmets, Converse Skateboarding, Nike 6.0, and Mastercraft. These brands depended on fostering culture around their athletes as much (if not more) than pitching their product. Innovation was as likely to come as a culturally relevant colorway as it was a new progression-sparking technology. It was the connection to culture that gave these brands relevance, meaning and equity. And equity equals margin.
This ability to see the larger picture, and how organizations and consumers fit into it is core to how I lead teams in making brand and marketing work that both drives sales and moves culture. A quick glance at my resume will show you that I have played many roles on my journey from marketing to strategy, to creative, to owning my own agency. All of this experience has given me a talent for fostering growth in the people I lead - teaching them the ways of the force.
My management philosophy is all about “we” not “me” and depends on low-to-no-ego collaboration. I am not concerned with the kudos of coming up with a great idea, but rather I prefer to create an environment where great ideas happen and people do their best work. Teams under my mentorship know how to identify key opportunities, build consensus with leadership, and generate demand through focused, authentic, and wildly creative solutions that can still check all the required ROI boxes… measurable, scalable, attributable, effective.
If this sounds like something you need at your organization, give me a call. We can make some magic.
